Arthur Gills

Welcome

Welcome to the portfolio gallery and shop of British artist Arthur Gills. Arthur started his painting career in his 20’s while also working along side the railways as a guardsman, and has retained his love of the railways and steam locomotives which can be seen through the great attention to detail he puts into every painting. He has continued painting since moving to Newcastle and has created many beautifully crafted scenes of the North East and surrounding areas and continues to paint as a hobby now that he is retired.

A Painting fit for a Queen

Arthur has been commissioning paintings for various clients for many years, but some are more prestigious than others. The most prestigious came in 1984, when the Queen Mother herself was visiting the Flying Scotsman, and was presented with painting of the locomotive, painted by Arthur.

Arthur has also had exhibitions of his many works of art, one of which was at the Cluny in Byker, Newcastle with at least 30 of his paintings for viewing by the public.

High Quality Prints

We use a Manchester based print company to give you prints of a very high quality. The works themselves can be of various dimensions, and as such some paintings will only be available in certain sizes to avoid distortion. The artwork also will not be printed above the limitations of the digital versions we have, and as such will retain the maximum depth and detail of the originals.

The paper used is a 308gsm, white, 100% cotton paper with a smooth surface texture, Photo Rag® meets the highest industry standards regarding density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness while preserving the special touch and feel of genuine art paper.
